Introducing: Yuck

I'm glad that the great Lester Bangs has already made fun of their name, so I can spare that. Today's band is called Yuck, and it's seriously about time to introduce them. As far as I know, the five Londoners have only finished a handful of songs, but they are all making the blog rounds in an amazing pace. To be precise, there appear only to be four regular members (presumably the ones you see in the photograph above) plus one girl singing somewhere in the background, and only two of them actually are from London, the bassist being from Hiroshima and the drummer from New Jersey. So now you know.

What's a lot more important is that they are obviously capable of making almost alarmingly admirable indie pop tunes somewhere between classic C86 and shoegaze, not unlike last year's darlings The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart for that matter, but with more sense for harmonies and slightly more variety, if the few songs allow such conclusions.

Summing up, the music is among the most wonderful things I've heard in a long time. For what it's worth, Yuck is a band that really deserves to become the next big thing in 2010. Though I fear it's gonna take a while until they'll have their first proper full-length released, it's good to see that the impeccable folks over at Transparent have accepted the duty to put out their first single Georgia as a strictly limited 7 inch.

I emphatically recommend you listen to blissful Sunday below:
