The NFOP Radio Show #5

The latest edition of the beloved biweekly NFOP Radio Show is dedicated to the new releases by the big players in the "indie universe", wherever that might be, such as Blur, LCD Soundsystem, HEALTH, Flying Lotus, and CocoRosie. As usual, you can listen either via the embedded player above (recommended) or here. I hope you'll enjoy.

Listening note: The show is streamed via 8tracks. Their license requires a mix to be shuffled the second time someone listens to it. Moreover, the number of tracks the user can skip while listening to a mix is limited.

Tracklisting:

1. Blur - Fool's Day: The first Blur single since 2003 is something you just don't want to miss. And it's quite a lovely song, too.
2. DOM - Burn Bidges: Massachusetts trio DOM makes lush guitar pop with desperate lyrics, not unlike Girls for that matter. Their debut Sun Bronzed Greek Gods EP is out May 1st on Burning Mill.
3. Gayngs - The Gaudy Side of Town: Another supergroup. Minneapolis producer Ryan Olson has gathered around him every citizen of his hometown who appeared to be capable of holding an instrument, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and the members of Solid Gold among those drafted, and recorded an album that reminds most critics of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (seriously) and that has been called "album of the year so far" by Guardian's Lester Bangs. We'll see. Relayted is due 11 May on Jagjaguwar.
4. Music Go Music - Light Of Love: Excuse me, did I hear somebody say "ABBA"? The LA trio shamelessly but brilliantly copies the 70s, and isn't that just the music we want to hear right now? The best song from their debut Expressions has an amazing video now that you can watch here.
5. The Golden Filter - Hide Me: One of last year's most massive blog hypes is finally about to release debut LP Voluspa, 26 April, on Brille Records.
6. LCD Soundsystem - All I Want: Oh yes, James Murphy is back. Highly anticipated, This Is Happening will be out 17 May on DFA (of course).
7. Flying Lotus - Table Tennis: After DJ Koze's 40 Love and Memory Tapes' Green Knight, this track is the third attempt within one year to use a ballgame's sounds as frame for the song's rhythm section. What are the odds. Taken from Flying Lotus' stunning sophomore LP Cosmogramma, out 3 May on Warp.
8. HEALTH - USA Boys: The LA noise visionaries are again releasing a remix album accompanying their regular LP. After last year's second album Get Color, the quartet's going to put out appropriately titled Disco2 on July 6. This track is the only new song, all chopped-up and sliced synth madness. By the way, if you haven't seen the video for their latest single We Are Water by now, you probably shouldn't.
9. The Depreciation Guild - November: Last year's darlings The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart's drummer Kurt Feldman has another band, following just the same path of twee-infused washed-out dream pop, only this time backed by the sound chip of an original Nintendo Entertainment System. Their second album Spirit Youth is out May 18 on Kanine.
10. Lonely Galaxy - Time: 21-year old Londoner Harry Granger-Howell makes beautifully sad music for sadly beautiful people. His debut EP1 is out April 19 on Transparent in a strictly limited 300 piece edition.
11. CocoRosie - Lemonade: The album cover art of their new LP Grey Oceans might well be among the ugliest there've ever been, but still we're really happy that sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady are back. Released by Sup Pop on May 11.
