After all that sun-drenched lo-fi happiness I've been bothering you with in the last couple weeks, let's get back to reality for once. Seattle's The Sight Below is composer Rafael Anton Irisarri's project, meandering somewhere between ambient, techno and shoegaze, a combination that's reminiscent of Ulrich Schnauss' oeuvre actually. Now accompanied by ex-Slowdive member Simon Scott, he has just released his sophomore album, It All Falls Apart, on Ghostly. The only non-instrumental track on the album is an intriguing version of Joy Division's New Dawn Fades, with vocals by fellow Seattle artist Jesy Fortino, better known under her moniker Tiny Vipers. A dark beauty.
